At Accelerate Sport & Spine, we believe in combining world-class expertise with compassionate, individualized care. That’s why we are thrilled to welcome Dr. Alyssa Watts, PT, DPT, OCS, TPS, FPS to our team of providers.
Expertise in Orthopedics and Chronic Pain Management
Dr. Watts brings a wealth of experience as a Board-Certified Clinical Specialist in Orthopedic Physical Therapy (OCS), Therapeutic Pain Specialist (TPS), and Fellow in Pain Science (FPS). With advanced training in orthopedic physical therapy, sports injury rehab, and chronic pain treatment, she is uniquely equipped to help patients navigate some of the most common physical therapy challenges, including:
- Knee injuries & ACL recovery – Whether recovering from ACL reconstruction, meniscus surgery, or sports-related knee pain, Dr. Watts understands firsthand the road back to full performance. As a former Division I soccer player who underwent four knee surgeries (including three ACL reconstructions), she brings both clinical knowledge and lived experience.
- Back pain & spine care – From herniated discs to sciatica, Dr. Watts uses evidence-based strategies to reduce pain, restore mobility, and build strength safely.
- Chronic pain conditions – Using the latest in pain neuroscience education and movement-based therapies, she helps patients move beyond fear and limitation to rediscover confidence in their bodies.
- Post-operative rehab – Dr. Watts specializes in progressive rehabilitation plans designed to safely rebuild strength and function after surgery.
- Sports performance & injury prevention – With a background in high-level athletics, she empowers athletes at every level to recover stronger and reduce risk of re-injury.
A Personal Journey from Athlete to Provider
Dr. Watts’ path into physical therapy was shaped by her own struggles with injury. Multiple knee surgeries required not just physical rehab but also mental resilience. This identity shift from athlete to provider continues to inspire her work. Guided by the quote, “If it doesn’t challenge you, it doesn’t change you,” she walks with patients through the hard stuff—the setbacks, the doubts, and the sticking points—so they can find their way forward.
Bridging Science and Compassion
What sets Dr. Watts apart is her ability to integrate the latest research in manual therapy, functional movement, and pain science with a deeply personal, patient-centered approach. She believes the best outcomes come when patients feel empowered through education, movement, and progressive strategies that fit their unique lives.
Educator and Mentor
In addition to clinical practice, Dr. Watts serves as adjunct faculty at Baylor University’s Doctor of Physical Therapy program. She sees teaching as a way to extend her impact—shaping the next generation of physical therapists who will carry forward her mission of compassionate, evidence-based care.

Outside the Clinic
When she’s not helping patients, Dr. Watts enjoys traveling, staying active, attending baseball games with her husband Justin, and spending time with their daughter, and their three dogs—Murphy, Marley, and Dipstick.
